I did all the research, interviewing, writing, and editing of A Legacy of Service: The Texas Fire School, 1930-2000, an award-winning coffee table book for donors and alumni of an internationally renowned firefighter training program.

I provided significant structural editing/rewriting for Street Culture in Chengdu by Di Wang, published by Stanford University Press. It received the Urban History Association's 2005 Best Book in Non-North American Urban History Award and the Urban History Association's 2005 Best Book in Non-North American Urban History Award.

brainstorming & Rewriting

When Marco Palma's article "Self-control: Knowledge or Perishable Resource?" was published in the Journal of Economic Behavior, he knew his message would appeal to a wider audience. I helped him rework it into a story for The Conversation on why people don't keep New Year's Resolutions, and more than 67,000 people around the world have read it to date.

copyediting & line editing

I’m a copyeditor with Inklings Publishing and also work with individual authors on fiction and nonfiction work.
This includes providing initial editing for Sports Travel Security, by Peter Tarlow, published by Butterworth-Heinemann, and for the "Promise" and "Wounded" series of romantic suspense novels by Mitzi Pool Bridges, published by The Wild Rose Press.
